I lost my Dad back in October to a sudden heart attack. I had just started getting back into the music scene, and then, all of sudden, he’s never going to get to see me perform. He’s not going to see the woman I will become. He’s not here to see me achieve my dream. And he was the inspiration for that dream. Yes, we can all speculate that somehow he may still be ‘watching’ me from afar. But, we all know, it’s not the same. It just isn’t. He’s not here, and it hurts. And now the world is going to hell in a handbasket…

I have people around me who love me. I have people who depend on me. I have so much love in my heart for those people |and pets| that I would literally die a thousand deaths for them. It’s infinite. Without limit. And when it boils down to it, despite all the trauma I’ve lived through, and despite all the myriad differences, I still believe in humans. There really are bad people among us. Selfish, narcissistic, sociopaths. Yes, they exist. And when you get burned by one, it will leave a lifelong scar. But…

There are also kind people. Yes, they are flawed and make mistakes too, because we all do, but, in their hearts, they mean well, and they are kind.

And there are a lot more of them than their hideous counterparts.

Now, more than ever, we need to surround ourselves with these kind people. We need to strive harder to be those kind people. People need each other to survive. We need each other to thrive.
